I am an oil and acrylic painter based in north New Jersey. I began my fine art career under the tutelage of JR Song, who provided me a physical space to paint and mentorship in lieu of not attending a formal art school. After a year of observation and learning-by-doing,  I have since moved into a solo practice and supplement my skills through local and online education opportunities. As a Korean-American, my style and subject matter is influenced by my experience growing up with an uneasy feeling of Otherness as I moved from my childhood, rural midwestern town to my adult life in New Jersey. Through my work, I aim to express my generational anxieties and conflicts through a surreal expressionist style.
